No Shade in the Shadow of the Cross
oil on wood, 7″ x 5″, 2016
This painting was made at Durward’s Glen of the family chapel and cemetery. As I paint, I usually listen to music. One of the songs on my playlist was Sufjan Stevens’ No Shade in the Shadow of the Cross. While I’m not religious, the song and its mood seemed appropriate to this setting. Painting at Durward’s Glen was a magical experience and I hope I can go back.
